Develop the aspiration to liberation by reflecting on suffering
The universal sufferings of saṃsāra affect all beings who, like us, have a body and a mind deeply conditioned by disturbing mental factors such as ignorance, attachment or irritation. Specific sufferings also torment each of the classes of beings within cyclic existence, such as animals, human beings, and other forms of life which escape our current perceptions. - Establish the nature of the path leading to liberation
As long as we continue wandering within cyclic existence we will be subject to its suffering. What is the process the process through which we die and are reborn, that is, the origin of suffering? We observe how disturbing factors arise in our mind, we understand how under their influence we accumulate karma. Then we establish the nature of the path that leads to liberation, that is, how we can bring our saṃsāra to an end.
