Les six pratiques preparatoires - Bordeaux - 2016

Rinpoche comments on a collection of instructions entitled The Necklace of the Fortunate, whose author was the renowned master Dagpo Lama Rinpoche Lobsang Jampäl Lhündrup Gyatso (1845-1919). This work is based on the Tibetan kadampa tradition, precursor of the gelukpa's. It consists of a set of prayers and meditations that prepare for lamrim meditation, the gradual path to enlightenment. Belonging to the genre of "djorchö", translated as "preliminary practices", these make it possible to dispel adversary conditions and bring together the good ones to obtain the qualities of this path, such as unconditional love, universal compassion or the wisdom that understands reality. This teaching was given at the request of the Kadam Tcheuling Bordeaux Dharma Center for two consecutive years. This is the second one.

Concisely and with great clarity, Rinpoche takes up the exposition of the 6 Preliminary Practices begun in 2015. He then goes on to describe more specifically the preliminary practices linked to the Southern Lineage Lamrim. Not only are the transmission lineages of the quick path, known as Ensa, and of the South, included in the Segyu lineage, different, but the former combines sutras and tantras in its practices, whereas the latter is based exclusively on the sutras. This implies different visualisations, particularly of the refuge field, the accumulation field and during ablutions.
