Death and impermanence - Neuchâtel - 2011

OVERVIEW

Based on The Precious Master's Instructions, Rinpoche delicately and precisely explains the importance of becoming more aware of our mortality and how to integrate this understanding into our daily life. He shows us how, far from being a morbid thought, the awareness of the inevitability of our death and the uncertainty of its moment allows us to live a truly meaningful life. Opening our eyes to our mortality is the very way to feel deeply alive and to leave this life without regret.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THESE TEACHINGS?

During these three days of teachings given at the request of Kadam Tcheuling Switzerland, Rinpoche addresses in particular:
    1. Attachment to current life and its drawbacks
    2. The seizure of eternalism
    3. The different renunciations
    4. The disadvantages of not thinking about death
    5. The advantages of thinking about it
    6. The nine-fold contemplation of death
    7. Meditation on the dying process
    8. Advice for supporting people at the end of their life
    9. The eleven virtuous thoughts to appear at the time of death

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

The nine-fold contemplation of death will allow you to realize intimately that since death is certain, practicing a spiritual path is necessary; because its timing is uncertain, it is crucial to practice now; and since nothing except dharma would be really useful at the time of our death, it is vital to practice in a perfectly pure way. Meditating on the dying process will offer you ways to prepare yourself and get through this inevitable stage of life as well as possible.
