The perfection of ethical discipline - Monaco - 2015

OVERVIEW

Mahāyāna ethic is both an art of living and a comprehensive guide that enables us to walk in the footsteps of the bodhisattvas. It has three components: the ethic of abstention from wrongdoings, the ethic of collecting virtue, and the ethic of helping sentient beings. These three dimensions include all the practices of the bodhisattvas, all the six perfections, all the causes that lead to Enlightenment. They include a gradation: first protecting yourself, then developing your qualities, before being truly able to help all sentient beings. It is this first aspect that Rinpoche mainly teaches here, placing it firmly in the context of the journey towards complete Enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings.
