Geshe chekawa's mind training - Bordeaux - 2021

OVERVIEW

The Seven Point Mind Training is a profound instruction devoted to realizing and cultivating bodhicitta. Long transmitted in secret, it was written down and spread more widely by Geshe Chekawa (1102–1176), who highlighted seven parts from which it takes its name. It is also sometimes called The Instruction of the Lepers because it is said that Geshe Chekawa imparted it to a group of lepers who recovered from their ailments after having put it into practice, by having made arise in their minds absolute altruism. It is this invaluable instruction that Rinpoche passes on to us in two sessions - 2018 and 2021, at the invitation of Kadam Tcheuling Bordeaux.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THESE TEACHINGS?

This instruction constitutes an extraordinary ode to altruism and the spirit of enlightenment, as much as an uncompromising guide to reveal in oneself a love and a compassion for all beings:

  1. Engaging in the preparatory practices, foundation of the instructions.
  2. Training in the two spirits of enlightenment, conventional and ultimate bodhicitta.
  3. Transforming unfavorable conditions into a path to enlightenment.
  4. A summary of what to do as one's lifelong practice.
  5. The standard for determining proficiency in the mind training practices.
  6. The pledges that come with training the mind.
  7. The twenty-two precepts.
During this second teaching session, Rinpoche addresses the last five points, describing with particular attention how to transform adverse conditions into the path to enlightenment, as well as the commitments and observances that protect and help altruism to flourish.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

By taking this instruction to heart, it will allow you to gradually overcome your reluctance to altruism and to embrace more and more sincerely love, compassion and the spirit of enlightenment, thus walking in the footsteps of bodhisattvas.
