OVERVIEW
The first words of the Buddha after his Enlightenment invited his disciples to identify with great lucidity their situation of suffering. Without this essential step, it would indeed be impossible to even wish to free oneself from it. Rinpoche accompanies us here in an exploration of our experiences of happiness and suffering, and to ask ourselves this question: is an infinite happiness, forever free of suffering, possible?
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THESE TEACHINGS?
Through these two days of teaching, Rinpoche helps us to become more aware of the different forms of suffering that torment us beyond the most visible and most manifest pains, and invites us to investigate, as the Buddha did two thousand six hundred years ago, if it is possible to free ourselves from it. With exceptional clarity, he describes these essential aspects to fuel our reflection:
- The contaminated aggregates - i.e. body and mind afflicted by the disturbing mental factors
- The four aspects of the truth of suffering
- Gross and subtle impermanence
- The three types of sensations, as well as their relation with the three types of sufferings
- The six universal sufferings within cyclic existence
- The total lack of certainty that characterizes our current mode of existence
- The dissatisfaction that permeates our lives latently or manifestly
- The process of liberation from suffering
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
This teaching will help you better understand the different aspects of the suffering that overwhelms you, and to better perceive how it torments all beings within cyclic existence in the same way. Even if this observation may initially seem difficult, it offers the possibility of finally aspiring to true and lasting happiness, beyond all illusions, and of giving rise in yourself to a powerful compassion towards all those who do not have not yet freed themselves from suffering.
